The Laughing Cavalier Jigsaw Puzzle

A 100 piece puzzle depicting The Laughing Cavalier by Frans Hals. Although the name of the sitter is still not known, The Laughing Cavalier is one of the most well known paintings at the Wallace Collection, and certainly Hals’s most iconic portrait. The sittter wears a rich jacket embroidered with motifs common in emblem books of the time and symbolic of the pains and pleasures of love, including arrows, flaming cornucopiae and lovers’ knots, which may suggest that the picture is a betrothal portrait.
